Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, was designed to be a city of the future and results from a collaboration between the architect Oscar Niemeyer, architect and urban planner Lucio Costa and landscape designer Rober-to Burle Marx. The city, inaugurated on April 22nd 1960, is organized in function of two axis. A north-south axis called wing, and a wide avenue called Monumental Axis, which cuts the city from east to west, ending at National Congress. Unesco has declared that Niemeyer’s modernist architecture, thought as an “open air museum”, as a World Heritage site in 1987.

The activities, such as workshops, roundtables and artistic presentations will be held at the Planetarium of Brasília. Opened on March 15, 1974, the Planetarium of Brasília was designed by architect Sérgio Bernardes and received the most advanced equipment at the time – the central astronomical projector Spacemaster from Carl Zeiss. In 2009 the Brasilia Planetarium underwent a modernization process with adjustments in the Spacemaster system and installation of the modern PowerDome VIII Special digital system composed of eight full-dome digital projectors with 50,000:1 contrast, with a total resolution of 4K and sound system digital surround 5.1.
