Independent curator, co-creator and artistic director of the Verve Cultural, Marília Pasculli is a brazilian representative of large digital art exhibitions in São Paulo.
She was one of the founders of the Art Gallery Digital SESI-SP, the largest media facade initiative in Latin America. On the building, she produced four multimedia exhibitions, among them the SP_Urban Digital Festival, that is entering in the second edition in 2013. Besides that, other multimedia installations spread throughout the city of São Paulo were also signed by Marília Pasculli and Verve Cultural.
The common feature of all the projects is the free access to the public, either by the idealization of events in a public space or by the free admission.

Creative approaches to technology are reshaping the way we perceive space. And this is not a new phenomenon, architects, artists, designers, have always been able to create spaces for experience, reflection and contemplation. What is changing is how technologies are affecting our behavior and our human capacities in an environment where the layers between the real and the virtual intersect, overlap, and merge at an increasing rate.
Technologies and digital connections are deeply rooted in the urban fabric and domestic everyday life. The digital layer of encoded electromagnetic signals has become a conceptual, imaginary and operational layer in society. Whether we are aware of this or not, actively engaged in the digital culture or not, this technological immersion impacts our way of perceiving and existing in these environments, as it also affects us physically.
A simplistic physiological comparison is how insects and small wild animals change their natural habits when exposed to artificial light. Artificial impulses can sharpen sensory sensations and complex sensory stimuli in the human body, causing temporary sensations to be clear: the clear impression of reality.
Our brain reacts to virtual reality impulses differently than in real environments. Although the rhythm of the neural multi-sensory activities is approximated in both stimuli – real and virtual environment – immersion in virtual reality is able to trigger much more intense sensations, activating several neural connections in our brain related to memory and emotion.
IMMERSPHERE seeks to explore broader issues that shape virtual reality, the different perspectives of the surrounding media condition and its sensory unfolding. It invites artists to experiment and deepen digital aesthetics and how this practice can influence the way art is displayed and produced in the future. It questions how immersive artistic mediation can prove authentic as part of our current environment and existential reality.
The festival will allow you to travel in time and space. It stimulates to live an audio-visual manipulated fantastic reality, but infinitely genuine in feelings and deep emotional perceptions.
